The article I'm reading is entitled "Purple Boots, Silver Stars ... and White Parents" this article was inference to white couples adopting African- American children and personal experiences . when reading this newspaper article  it talks about a couple and their African-American adopted daughter lnamed Rosa and things they worry about . This article tells in details about Rosa, and how she had gone with an older black friend to Fulton Mall, a crowded commercial area in our Brooklyn neighborhood, where the shoppers are mostly black. Fulton Mall is not only about shopping, it’s also a place to flirt, talk, laugh and argue, and to listen in passing to gospel, soul, hip-hop and R & B music". As white parents they never experience African-African music nor heritage so they are having a tuff time raising a African American daughter who wants to know her history and they can't help her because they grew up as white people living in a white society not worrying about racism .
while reading  this it made me think ,I'm not racist but personally It would be hard to raise a child from another background or ethnicity . As an African-American you never experienced what it would be like as an white person and vice versa. How can white parents tell their African American son or daughter why they can't get a job due to their race .As a white person your living in a world with doors being open to you due to your color.
Would you adopt a child from another race ?

  1. I couldnt do it because there are a lot of obstacles involced wjth it that I personally could not handle. It would be so hard to relate to what they go through that I could not even help them

  2. I also agree with Carristian's comment because it just doesn't feel the same adopting a child that isn't of the same race as you. It would be more difficult to understand some of their experiences and they will never fully know their culture. There is no problem with adopting a child of a different but it's the challenge of the different background that he comes from. Personally, I would adopt a child of another race besides the obstacle that is clearly seen.

  3. i would adopt a child from another race even though it would be very difficult i would. I would adopt another child from another race because i could learn more about their heritage and background. We could both try and figure out were my adopted child comes from and find out his heritage and background, it would be fun but at the same time difficult, but not impossible !

  4. Even though adopting a child from another race would be great, there will be obstacles as well. Paperwork and visas are some of the obstacles that will come with adopting a child from a different race. Another obstacle is teaching the child the race you come from with the race the child comes from.

  5. I would adopt a child from a different race as I believe that everybody has a right to a family and caring parents. However being a student as school I know that it would be hard for the child regarding bullying.
