This article is about Washington D.C. officers targeting black people riding illegal motorcycles. These officers use a very barbaric way to stop these people, they would follow someone and then hit the person using their squad car. One man was found lying dead on the ground with his dirt bike. These types of vehicles and all terrain vehicles are also illegal, but are able to be bought at many stores. http://mobile.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/07/23/federal-suit-claims-dc-cops-target-black-motorcyclists
Reflection: When I first read this, I thought of this as being a video game. I would never think someone would actually do this. This is just unnecessary to stop a person this way, it is obviously discrimination. These officers are clearly trying to take advantage that they are trying to "help". This gets me infuriated when people take advantage of the law and bend it to their own advantage and screw over other people. It is people like this that corrupt oue society today, and no one is taking responsibility of this.
I very much agree with your reflection. I also feel as though that throughout time, people tend to use their power to their advantage negatively and unfortunately the people that are supposed to be using their power for good and for the benefit of others, use it for evil. Police discrimination against people of color is nothing new but this is something that is very blatant and plain to see and it needs to be stopped.
ReplyDeleteI respect your reflection and I also agree that this is extremely unnecessary. Why hit someone with your car instead of easily pulling them over.I feel that they are doing more harm then good, they are putting these peoples lives at risk because getting hit by a squad car isn't that easy to get up from. Officers should take more consideration into people safety.
ReplyDeleteI understand your reflection, and where your coming from. I want to say that cops do sometimes over use their power. If they were to target white motorcyclist do you think they would hit them off their bike or pull them over?
