Racism Article

Summary:

My article is about the superintendent and the athletic director of a Philadelphia-area school district resigning from their jobs. It’s said that the reason why these two might have had to resign from their jobs is because they were both caught sending offensive and racist text messages to each other. To make matters even worse it says that the Daily Local News in West Chester leaked a transcript of the messages that the two men were sending to each other.  In one conversation the two men talk about that black people should the same last name and that last name should be the “N” word. In another conversation they talk about a red-haired girl having sex with a black man and they make jokes saying that there is no way that an “ape” referring to a black man had sex with a white woman. The way that people found out about these messages was that a district employee saw the messages while transferring data from one to the other.

Reflection:

As I read this article I was just in shock. First off I feel that these to men are honestly stupid. I feel this because they have jobs that of course revolve around kids of different cultures and backgrounds and to start talking bad about them is just dumb. Secondly they are sending text through phones that the school district issues and of course they are going to be patrolled and checked on by the district. They way that they refer to black people and what they think of them is just awful they are horrible people. I also feel that as soon as the district got word of this they should have immediately fired them both. Why keep two men that make offensive jokes about black people, that just doesn’t make sense everyone is human and they should be treated equally.

  2. That is so degarding what these two people did. It shows a bad example to the community and the students around it.

  3. I feel as though this is completely unnecessary. The reason I feel this way is because they have jobs where they experience different kinds of races, religion etc. They should get use to seeing black people, or spanish people. Their job consists of this and if they don't like African Americans they should find a new job.
