Bank of America

This article talked about Bank of America agreed  to pay $39 million to women who worked in its Merrill Lynch brokerage operation, another costly settlement of a discrimination case filed by its employees. Merrill, which has about 15,000 brokers worldwide, also agreed to change its policies to give women a better chance of succeeding. I think this is great because sometimes male privilege prevents women from  becoming more successful in work .
Some of the female workers didn't feel appreciated and respected so some of the women workers came together and filed a complain. Something interesting was said by one of the female workers and she said " We do the same jobs as most of the men in the bank industry, and I believe we should be treated equally ."I personally agree to this statement everybody should be treated fairly in every area of life ,especially work. It's tuff now to find a job and make money so women who are working hard are denied certain work privileges is very hurtful.                                                             Link:http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2013/09/06/bank-of-america-to-pay-39-million-in-gender-bias-case/?_r=0

  1. I agree with you, I can see how women would feel disrespected because they are being treated from men instead of being treated equally. However this helps women out as men normally get chosen over women. If I was a women I would have mixed feelings as the money would be helping but the the idea would seem degrading.

  2. It is nice to know the companies are trying to end gender bias against women and I think this is a step in the right direction with equal pay. I read a different article before that said in 2010 woman and men doing the same job, for every dollar that men earn women earned .77 cents. I like this article because it shows that people are stepping in the right direction
