Food Media Vs. Gender Bias

Food Media 

                                   Last week, Times Magazine dropped its "Gods of Food" issue and set an internet rage because no women chefs were considered "gods."  The Times editor, Howard Chua- Eoan, never thought that media had to play a role in closing the gender gap within the restaurant environment. He said  "If the chefs talk about it, then we can cover it. If the female chefs talk about it, we'll cover it...If there had been someone who had made a huge stir this year about how terrible it is, then perhaps." Well, people are making a "huge stir" now." Grub Street found ten female chefs that were suited for the issue,  and the Daily Meal found twenty.Elena  Arzak  won the award " World's best Female Chef "  and her restaurant  is number eight on the World's 50 Best list. 

                              When I read about Ms. Arzak and Ms. Santini, I was impressed with their position in the World's Best 50. I believe that the female chefs are not getting equal opportunities as the male chefs. I believe they weren't put  in "Gods of Food" because they were to good for the issue and that the magazine wants to show the readers that the men are the ones that work.

1) Was  Time's issue "Gods of Food" trying to degrade the female chefs ? Why or why not?
2)  do you think the chefs that won the World's Best 50 get a chance to be "Gods of Food"?
