I feel having actual women telling us about there gender bias experiences was a great idea. There stories really made me think "does this really still happen" The story that Mrs.Tordo had told us happen to be my favorite in explaining her gender bias experience. The fact that after Mrs. Tordo impressed everyone in her meeting the man had the nerves to go to Mrs.Tordo and say "oh I thought you were someones secretary". I would have been upset after feeling so good for giving that speech only to have someone ruin my mood by making me feel like crap. I also like Mrs. Tordos explanation of what she does when she meets new people. She doesn't explain herself to people she meets she wants them to be nice to her for who she is not for what she does.
I agree with your statement completely and I would feel the same way if I was being underminded by a male saying I was something less than what I really am.
ReplyDeleteThis is very true. Having women in the class opened my eyes up and showed me what really goes on in the world besides school and sports. They give us a different perspective on the situation and shows me that it might be all fun and games for men but women are considering this sexual harrassement.
